Omega Society's fundamental goal at its founding
was to protect surviving family members from falling prey to emotional
overspending at a time of profound loss and grief. Mr. de Michaelis'
basic mission was to encourage individuals to make their own arrangements
--ahead of time-- relieving their survivors from guilt ridden over spending
and allowing their wishes to be carried out by their loved ones completely
guilt-free. This is the value of making pre-arrangements.
Omega Society offers two types of pre-arrangements:
2. Pre-Registration with Prepayment.
pre-registering, individuals provide The Omega Society -- in advance
-- the necessary vital information for a death certificate, along with
the required releases and signatures. It also allows for the individual's
specific instructions for the disposition of their remains. It is also valuable in preparing for an imminent death of a loved one. All information
is kept on file -- for life -- at our central office and wallet ID cards
are provided with instructions to call The Omega Society in the event
of death, along with our 24-Hour Emergency Toll Free telephone number. There is no charge to pre-register. This simple step
will relieve surviving loved ones from the burden of scrambling for
unfamiliar information, tracking down often unavailable signatures,
and making costly emotional decisions -- all at a time of profound emotional
distress. This common sense approach to final arrangements is the reason
why thousands of individuals have chosen to pre-register with The Omega
Society. (It is also comforting to know that The Omega Society will always be there for you at time of need, even if no pre-registration paperwork has been signed ahead of time.)

individuals choose to take their pre-arrangements one step further by
also locking in a price for services without fear of future price increases. This provides loved ones with the complete peace of mind in knowing
all arrangements are completely planned for and paid for as well.
Unlike some competitors, 100% of all
Omega Society prepaid funds are invested in their entirety. We do not pay sales commissions from the funds you've paid. We also do not self-manage our own prepaid accounts, nor do we profit from annual administrative fees charged on co-mingled prepaid accounts, which can add up to millions of dollars of profits to funeral homes annually. Our investment of choice is a separate and individual life insurance policy through Homesteaders Life Co., a 100+ year old company, whose entire business is investing pre-paid funds for independently owned funeral homes. Our Prepayment Plan benefits the individual by offering
appreciation in value over time in a separate non-comingled investment,
without the headache of recurring annual W-9's for interest reporting
on taxes. Additionally, with both The Omega Society and Homesteaders Life's years of unblemished
reputations, individuals can feel an added comfort in knowing their funds
-- and the companies -- are secure and will be there when needed.
The Omega Society's Prepayment Plan is a separate and distinct plan with a guaranteed, fixed price. Our Prepayment Plan has special, but competitive pricing ($1,045) as well as broader services which are all included (transportation within a 100 mile radius, upgraded urn, shipping cremains within the US or scattering at sea). We also offer World Wide Travel Coverage for an additional $285. Again, 100% of prepaid funds are invested, so none of your funds are used to pay sales commissions, nor are they used to provide profits to a funeral home before services are even rendered.
For those who require "spending down" to qualify for Medi-Cal, prepaying for services is a perfect solution. Medi-Cal requires individuals to have less than a certain amount of money in assets in order to qualify. You may "spend down" existing money to meet their requirement. Prepaying for final arrangements is an excellent expense that is allowed. In order for those funds not to be counted towards your total, the funds can be invested in an "Irrevocable" policy. This means that the funds are non-refundable and are therefore excluded by Medi-Cal as an asset. Medi-Cal wants to be sure an individual does not simply pre-purchase the services to qualify for Medi-Cal, and then cancel them afterwards and retain the funds. Since final arrangements will inevitably be needed, this is a useful means to "spend down" and have services arranged for ahead of time. You may add more services to the policy if you require a larger amount of funds to be spent.
Please contact The Omega Society to find out more information on our Prepayment Plan, especially if you have received a direct mail solicitation, or attended a seminar hosted by another cremation provider like Neptune Society, Trident Society, Smart Cremation, or even your local funeral home. You will be extremely pleased and surprised by our much lower pricing as well as our conservative investment strategy. And, we promise, a commission driven salesperson won't hound you!
